The next screening of Polish Cinema for Beginners is just around the corner. After the works of Wajda and Machulski, it is time for Kieslowski’s first international production. On the 19th of March we will show “the Double Life of Veronique”

Is it possible to miss someone, you have never even met? Weronika lives in Cracow, Veronique in Clermont-Ferrand in France. They don’t know about each other’s existence, but they have more in common than they could expect. With three awards at Canne’s festival and a Golden Globe nomination, „The Double Life of Veronique” was the first foreign production that brought Krzysztof Kieślowski an international recognition.

Our guest will be dr. Rev. Marek Lis- professor of the Theological Faculty of Opole University and as usual the discussion after the film will be run by Adam Kruk, who is also responsible for the programme of this season of PCFB.

Polish Cinema for Beginners is a project addressed to everyone interested in the history of Polish cinema and it is organised fully in English, which enables not only Polish but also foreign residents of Wrocław to participate. This is the very first film event of its kind in Wrocław and in all of Poland as it focuses on the non-Polish speaking audience, who up until now did not have the opportunity to watch Polish film classics on the big screen.

Each screening starts with an introductory lecture by a renowned expert: film critic, journalist, scientist or a filmmaker and after the film a discussion is held, where the audience can compare their unique viewpoints. Those discussions can be continued also outside the cinema room, by a bowl of delicious traditional Polish soup prepared by the chefs from ZZ Top.

The third meeting of Polish Cinema for Beginners will open on the 19th of March in Nowe Horyzonty Cinema at 19:00. Tickets for 13zł (discounted) and 16zł can be purchased before the screening in the cinema or online at kinonh.pl . For more information about the project please go to www.polishcinema.com.pl and www.facebook.com/polishcinema. Polish Cinema for Beginners is brought to you by Wrocławska Fundacja Filmowa and it’s part of the European Capital of Culture Wrocław 2016 programme.
