This coming Thursday we would like to invite you to the next screening in the 5th season of Polish Cinema for Beginners in Nowe Horyzonty Cinema. On the 26th of November our special guest will be Kazimierz Kutz, with whom the audience will have a chance to talk after the screening of “Nobody’s calling”.

Kazimierz Kutz is a Polish film, tv and theatre director, screenwriter, founder of the Polish Filmmakers Society. Author of film trilogy “Salt of the black earth” (1969), “Pearl in the crown” (1971), “The beads of one rosary” (1979), for which he received the Grand Prix and the Polish Film Festival in 1980. In 2010 he became an honorary resident of Katowice. As always Adam Kruk, who is in charge of the programme of Polish Cinema for Beginners, will moderate the discussion with the guest.

The film, which had its premiere in 1960, is set in western Poland straight after World War II. A young boy, running away from his past, arrives at a small town in Lower Silesia. There he meets Lucyna, with whom, despite many obstacles, decided to build their life together.

This film by Kazimierz Kutz, despite its very limited distribution in Poland, has been compared to works by Robert Bresson and Michelangelo Antonini.

This season we have also introduced loyalty cards for our most devoted audience members – 4 stamps can be exchanged for a special gift and with 5 stamps you receive a free entry to the final screening. The screening of “Nobody’s calling” will take place on the 26th of November in Nowe Horyzonty Cinema at 19:00.
